Approach to Therapy

I believe that everything we do and are as people makes sense when we understand the context of our lives. Every area of one’s life affects another in some way, shape, or form. Therefore, I find it quite helpful to explore the areas of physical, emotional, environmental, social, occupational, spiritual, and intellectual health in order to put all the pieces together to make a complete puzzle picture. With an accurate picture, it may feel as though things begin to “click” and “make sense.” With an accurate framework, we can begin to address the root of the issues you might be experiencing at the pace that you are comfortable with so that more foundational progress can take place.

I love working with childhood developmental challenges such as autism, behavior modification, or family dynamics and have successfully helped children and families get around obstacles. I also do cognitive-behavioral, trauma, and spirituality work with individuals and am committed to emotionally-focused therapy with couples, as these are proven techniques.

The therapeutic process is just that; a process. Time does not simply heal all wounds but it is a significant factor in the healing process. We can work together to figure out exactly what other factors, along with time, fit best for you because no two people are exactly alike. However, sometimes the right amount of humor can be a great addition to the process.

Garrett received his Master’s of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, PA. He is currently working toward licensure under the supervision of Dr. Carmen Morrison.
