Approach to Therapy

Looking for a therapist for you and your family can feel a bit like online shopping. You see a bunch of options, maybe the reviews are helpful, maybe they’re not, so you just pick one and hope that you don’t have to send that pizza cutter in the shape of the Star Ship Enterprise back because it wasn’t what you thought it was.

I totally get how important it is to have a therapist that you feel will click with your kid or with you.  It takes a lot of courage to decide to look for help.  It shouldn’t have to feel even riskier finding a therapist who you are comfortable with.   I want you to feel like we are a good fit because therapy is like a long hike; sometimes there are steep inclines, sometimes there are beautiful views, but you definitely don’t want to hike with someone you’re not meshing with. Because this is so important, I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation, where you can come and meet me and get an idea of how I would approach working with you to find a way through what you are struggling with.

I believe that every person is a unique individual and that you are the foremost expert on your life. I bring my expertise in child, adolescent and family to your expertise about your experience, so that we can work together to create an individualized plan that reflects who you or your children are to help you reach your goals for you and your family, and find your purpose again. I am passionate about helping people find wholeness, achieve healing, and begin to thrive in their lives. To do this we will work together to identify unhelpful behaviors, thoughts, and patterns that may be preventing growth in your life. We will also work together to look at systems such as family, work, or school to find any growth opportunities that are present. I am committed to using the best practices that are proven to work for the specific needs of your family, which includes a comprehensive knowledge of neurobiology, development, attachment science, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy..

No matter where you might feel stuck in your life or with your kids, I want to work with you to grow through adversity, know yourself on a deeper level, and get equipped with tools to help you in the future. No matter where the trail leads, I’m ready to head out on that hike with you today!
